I trained at Walthamstow Art College and was an Art Teacher in Redbridge for a number of years.
For the last nine years I’ve been a full-time Artist.
I have always lived in close proximity to Epping Forest and have enjoyed drawing and painting the trees.
My current work is concerned with isolating particular trees against a clear sky. This helps me to explore the unique characteristics of the various species and to celebrate their differences.
I use acrylic paint on canvas for these paintings.
In tandem with this ‘tree art’ I have started a series of oil-on-canvas paintings that was inspired by a recent visit to Italy.
Looking at many Renaissance paintings led me to consider the by-standers in these pictures; the individuals that are not part of the main action.
I began to notice groups of people who are waiting. Waiting at bus stops, at railway stations, for friends in Galleries, at airports and in parks.
People who are at rest while the rest of the world moves on around them.....
This is the subject of my new paintings.
